OHH! I love cruises... I've been on two.. 1st with my best friend in 07 and 2nd on my honeymoon last year. The husband did not love cruising nearly as much as I. I guess it's because I LIKE to be lazy and lounge around and relax and he likes to be on the go, doing fun excursions. I enjoyed Half Moon Cay! SO RELAXING! You don't need your prom dress :D a nice cocktail dress is more than appropriate :)

Well speaking as a gal practically fresh off the boat! lol I packed ALL summer stuff because the forecast was 80 for our destinations BUT I neglected to think about the in between forecast! Rain & Wind like WHOA! needless to say I froze! Formal night was like PROM night I felt like an absolute homeless lol I would also say take motion sickness stuff about an hour BEFORE you take off..what else what else If your on Carnival LEVEL 5 goes straight through the ship! Remember that and you will never get lost! I cannot tell you how many hours we spent LOST! & bring stuff to entertain yourself! By the 6th day we were ready to stab each other in the eye lol We played Go Fish instead! Other than that You are going to have so much fun! =D

I went on a cruise for my honeymoon too! We traveled with Carnival and on our boat everything happened after 10pm, not even kidding. So we felt like old fuddy duddies when we would fall asleep before the parties and such so TAKE A NAP, that sun drains you.

I didn't pay much attention to what the dinner attire was I wanted to dress up every night, I brought more cocktail dresses, rather than prom, actually I didn't see anyone that formal.I did it because it was such a change of pace from wearing a swim suit and cover up all day. It was nice to get dolled up and go out with hubby.

If you see something you like in the gift shop hold off on getting it. I found a $100 watch, earring and pear necklace set that I really liked but wasn't to found of the price and the last night on the boat they dropped the price to $20.00. It is pretty much black Friday on a cruise boat.

if you can invest in the pictures they take of you right when you get off the boat and at dinner. It was a good way to bulk up our album and it says what port you were at which is nice.

If there is a separate restaurant, a steak house to be exact, if you can go. It is a nice to have a fancy meal at a table for two and LAWD the food is amazeballs( I looked it up the restaurant is called Harry's).

The towel animals are as cool as you think they are going to be.

You are going to want to do it right when you get your room because come on you are on your honeymoon, hold off until after the drill. They do a safety drill where you have to put on your life vest and go to your assigned life boat. Husband and I had the misfortune of getting a little to in to the honeymoon spirit before hand and had to stop mid spirit if you know what I mean.

Cocktail dresses are fine. You'll see EVERYTHING from prom to wedding to cocktail to Easter best. Cocktail is right down the middle. And, if you're super uncomfortable with the idea, you can always choose to eat in the casual restaurant that night/s.

My note? Bring at least one or two "regular" outfits. I personally got tired of wearing bathing suits and sundresses all the time. Some nights, I just wanted my comfy jeans and tees. And, a hoodie. It can get cold in some areas of the ship.

Definitely pack some nice cocktail dresses for dinner. Not sure if Carnival is like RC but the dinners are a bit dressed up, especially the Captain's dinner which is usually the last night. The usual casual outfits and swimsuits. I like maxi dresses and rompers when I'm on board cause a swimsuit is usually on underneath. Enjoy!!

Oh my goodness, you are going to have sooooo much fun! I have been on two cruises and both of them were to the eastern caribbean. I have been to San Juan once and St. Thomas twice, but you have your own tour guide for that :) Otherwise I guess I am not much help with the islands part. The dress code usually for the formal dining room is just to dress in a nice dress and black tie for the man. I wouldn't wear your prom dress, a cocktail dress would be much more appropriate. You can always eat dinner outside of the formal dining and at the buffet, which is much more casual, but we always loved the formal dining. The food was sooooo much better!

I'd say 100% casual on the ship except for the 2 formal dinners...which you don't even have to go to but I would. I'd say dressy cocktail to formal is ok but most of the people were wearing formal dresses. Guys were in suits and some were even in tux's. I get cold a lot so I always have sweaters for the AC'd ship. I bring exercise gear b/c they usually have great work out facilities and you gotta do something to balance the buffet. I wouldn't go too heavy on the planned excursion/tour thingys. We did one and I thought I was going to fall asleep. Other then that have fun!!!! Hubby hasn't been on a cruise and I want to do another one. They are sooo fun!!

Check the cruise line's website - they will tell you what sort of attire is required for the meals. Most cruise lines have a formal night, and you will need a nice dinner type dress, and husband will need at least a suit - if not more formal. I ALWAYS cruise NCL because they don't have those dress codes, even for the fanciest restaurants. I *think* that even on formal nights, you can skip the regular dinner restaurants and opt for the buffet, room service, or casual dinner options. But again, check with the cruise line for those details. Other than that, regular summer attire will do for everything except dinner - and usually "business/resort casual" is fine for most dinners. As for destination - I have never been to any of those places so I can't speak to activities. I definitely want to go there though, so I'll look forward to your recaps!

I've been on two cruises. Two carnival cruises. You need to bring at least two dressy outfits. I forgot what they call it, but everyone dresses up on those days. I assume you have your passport. My hubby and I usually book our excursions through Carnival. you know what you are getting, plus they are more fun. However, they can be more expensive. I've been to St Thomas We chose the excursion that went to St John (it is way more beautiful in my opinion). We took a cataraman and went to the beach/snorkeling. It is world reknowned for its snorkeling and underwater trail. Pretty much on the other days...dress code is whatever. We hardly ever spent time in our room. We were too busy. Cruises are fun, but definitely tire you out. If you have any specific questions, just feel free to ask! You will have a blast!

I always brought like 2-3 outfits a DAY For our cruises. Something to bum around in, something to leave the boat with (bathing suit, sundress), then something fancy for dinner. And, even still, I would sometimes change after dinner into something more "party" time... jeans, heels, etc. What cruise line? Carnival is pretty casual -- even on their formal nights. You don't need a crazy prom dress. Just a nice dress and heels will do! I think the only rule is no cut-offs...haha. I was always COLD on the boat... from being in the heat all day and being a lil bit sunburned... I'd come back on the boat and want my sweater! LOL Are you staying in Miami at all??

And, you don't have to eat in the formal dining room if you don't want to (though you do because it has the best food!). they always have buffets and other spots on the boat to eat at if you don't want to hit the big dining hall!

Hey lady! This sounds awesome. R and I went on a cruise when we graduated college and went to St. Thomas and San Juan. St. Thomas is GORGE and San Juan is very cool as well. We went to the Bacardi factory in San Juan for an excursion and that was a lot of fun.

As for outfits--I think cocktail attire is enough. You definitely don't need to wear a long dress. Big Man will need slacks or a suit on the more "fancy" nights. Other than that, go for resort comfy and cute!
