I Hate That I Love You.

Tis' the season where everyone starts busting out their spring and summer frocks and beautifully starts prancing around in all of their Lily Pulitzer and J. Crew glory. And to those girls, I say..

I HATE YOU.

With your cute little outfits and seersucker whatever you call its, looking all cute with your bad selves.
Ok, I lie...I really don't hate you because that really isn't my style but one outfit that I have seen across the boards from J. Crew to Hippie from SAHM to college girls is the

MAXI DRESS.

Or how I shall now refer to it as....my nemesis.
You think I'm kidding huh?!?
via Instagram.

Alot to take in right there, amirite?!?
And yes, I did spray tan myself in PicMonkey so I would not scare the shit out off you completely, what of it?!?

Now, that I look at it in pictures...it doesn't seem so bad but in person I feel like a linebacker in a dress with my man shoulders, third boob, and stature of a Oompa Loompa. I really want to rock a maxi dress this summer since all the cool stylish kids are doing it but I'm debating whether it's really worth it to embarrass myself or is some tailoring and fairy godmother dust could make this work.

So I turn to you all....and don't just blow smoke up my butt, tell me if I look like hot shit, if that's what you think.

AND GO!!

Yay or 'Oh helllzzzz Nay girlfriend...slow your bandwagon roll'

I think you look great! Honestly! I don't think you are too short and I wish my "upper half" looked as good in those dresses!

I say if you want to wear one, go for it. I'm a little over 5', and I wear them all summer long no matter how awkwardly short they make me look. They're comfy, cute, and incredibly awesome. Just do it!!!

I feel like we are built similarly and I swear I can't wear maxi dresses. TOO LONG first off and a whole lot up top hanging out. I have two in solid colors and when I see myself in them -- very rarely -- I don't hate it. I don't love it but I also don't hate it. I think now that I'm all preggo they will be perfecto for me in the summer since I'm supposed to look huge! ;)

I think the dress looks GREAT and is super cute!! And I actually would like to know where it's from??? ;)

I feel ya on the "man shoulders"- I have broad shoulders, too, but ya know what? Nothing I can do about it :( And you don't look manly shouldered anyway ;)

I think it looks good on you!!! I'm 5'3 and just wear taller wedge sandals with my longer dresses. I always have that issue, but I tend to wear higher heels most of the time anyway. And I also have the issue with the boobs with some too, I just layer a tank under some of them. You just need to find the right style! But I love it!!!

I think you may need a different style. Try a dress with thicker straps. It will help with the 3rd boob lol. If you buy a knit dress you can cut off some of the length and not worry about hemming it.

I have to try on about 100 dresses to find 1. You will find one. Good for you for going out of your comfort zone!!!!

Definitely get at least one maxi dress. I bought one at TJ Maxx or Marshalls with the intentions of "trying it out" and wearing it on our honeymoon where only my hubs would see me. He LOVED it. Recently I wore it out here in Raleigh and got two more compliments on it. I was really surprised because I didn't think it was really "me" or that it was great for my body type (short legs)...but hey, sometimes you just gotta try it out! And be confident!

You pull it off just fine. If you are uncomfortable about your shoulders, you can rock a jean jacket with it. To avoid side boob issues, b/c I am kinda busty, I get haltered maxis. Good luck! :)

I say Yay - super cute dress

I feel ya, I have the hardest time finding the right one, some make me look pregnant or they are like 10 feet too long!

I think you can pull of a maxi dress completely, BUT it's got to be the right length. So if you want to get this one, make sure you get it tailored.

This post made me laugh :). I think it looks cute! I'm short too so most of those don't work for me either! You could always wear wedge sandals for height!

I think you have an adorable little body... I just think that dress is not working for you. It's not you, it's the dress! I think you would like one that is more of a halter top that ties behind your neck and has wider straps that go over your shoulder... That's my two cents ;)

First of all, this entire post made me laugh, because I soooooooo relate.

Second, I think it's a cute dress! Hem it up a little and find a strapless bra you like... you'll be good to go!

What's your IG name so I can follow you?

Yeah, maxi's don't really work for me either since I'm such a shortie. I found one that I totally fell in love with and got a bleach stain on it.. dammit!

I actually rocked a Maxi dress today, just because of this post...and I'm only 5 foot tall. I don't know that I love this particular dress on you, but I don't hate it. I think you could find one you are more comfortable in, and with some confidence, your short little self could rock it too :-)

at 5'4" i feel i'm too short too. and i always feel like they make me look prego! i don't think this dress looks bad, but maybe another one with better support for the boobage would make you feel more comfortable?

I think you need thicker straps, which will corral the 3rd boobage issue - an issue I am all too familiar with.

So I don't really know your stature, but maxi dresses don't look good on me because I'm short and thick - I need shorter dresses because otherwise it appears that my legs are as thick as my waist. Don't be afraid to show off your best assets! :-)

I think you might be a little blind, or cray. It looks totally cute on you... You're rocking it!! I also want it! lol.

I actually think it looks great on you and I freaking LOVE that you picmonkey spray tanned yourself. I've been using self tanner for a week to go from ghost white to a lighter shade of orange :)

This dress makes you look like a greek god...but don't get too excited because I'm talking about that huge stripe down the middle and the aqua blue color. It's an interesting color scheme...pretty, but if you want to go the maxi dress route, I'd pick another. You honestly don't look bad, I'm just not a fan of the dress itself. Try another and I'm sure you'll look fantastic. ;)

I feel the way you do. Im wayyy too short with wayyy to much going on to pull off a maxi. I could hem it.. but im lazy. But I honestly like the dress on you. Just get thicker straps if your arms bother you.

No to this dress! I just don't think it does you any justice! Yes that I think you will look amazing in a maxi dress!! Try on a bunch of different styles, you will find one, promise!

Your boobs look great, and I don't see a third boob! I say rock it! Spray tan picmonkey is the way to go ;) I do it every single time ;)
